Talk about a Pain in the as*!
Well kids, here we are again! After OVER a solid year I finally got this freaking password reset and am able to blog again like a good chapter President should do! Cripes though! Don’t ever misplace your password or just, flat-out forget it. I was about to expect the WordPress police or blog inspectors to show up on our front porch and haul me in!
Let’s get on with the good stuff then, shall we? Since last year, last blog, we have lost a couple of members, gained a couple of members, been to Toronto Pride twice, shown our club at Motor City Pride and actually had our first official club election! Busy bodies to be sure. The country, on the other hand; has seen the State of New York grant equal rights to the LGBTQ Community as far as marriage is concerned and seen the upheaval of Prop 8 in California, which is still in the works. There has also been action to cease “don’t ask, don’t tell” in the military and the President has publicly denied supporting DOMA (Defense of marriage act) officially. A whole ton of really amazing, really surprising progress for our “community” as a whole. And I have to admit I am shocked and amazed to see so much action with the promise of more to come.
In my twenties, when I was a militant, angry little lesbian I can honestly say that I never thought I would see the day when same-sex marriage would be legal in our country period. I really never thought it was possible for our country as a whole to be that open-minded. I am not holding my breath here, but I may just see that dream come true. Because right now, for me, it is a dream. However, if the dream does come true for me, and my partner let me just say, it’s gonna be one heck of a party! Keep up the good work all you open-minded, free thinking, unprejudiced activists out there! Some of us little people really appreciate you and your efforts!!!!!!!
